Lately I mostly use Centos 7 64-bit as web server operating system (OS), both for Plesk and VPSSIM. Here's a tutorial on installing Centos 7 Minimal, as a base OS from web server we.
I use VMWare Fusion, because I use Hackintosh High Sierra. But you can also use VirtualBox, Parallels Desktop, Microsoft Hyper-V, etc.
Previously, we first downloaded the ISO file Centos 7 Minimal at https://www.centos.org/download/ (select Minimum ISO).
The first step, run VMWare Fusion, and create a new Virtual Machine (VM) by selecting menu Files -> New. Or by clicking the symbol "+And then select New, see the following picture.
Next select "Create a custom virtual machine", And click"Continue“.
Then on the option "Select the operating system for this virtual machine", choose Linux -> Centos 64-bit, and click Continue.
In the next window, select "Create a new virtual diskAnd click Continue.
Give the disk a name that we created, and choose a location to save it.
Review the final configuration, if necessary changes, click "Customize Settings". The following shows the Customize Settings window, where here you can change the VM configuration, for example the number of CPU cores, RAM, disk, networking, etc.
Like me, the following will change the configuration for networking and activate the CD so that you can paste the Minimum Centos 7 ISO file.
For the networking configuration, I chose "Bridged Networking", So that the VM has its own IP address, not integrated with the hosthis. Don't forget to click “Generate" to get mac addresshis.
If the configuration is all ok, close the window Customize Settings, and click the button play big like the following.
Next, a Minimal 7 Centos installation window will appear, select the language you want to use for this installation process, and click Continue.
Then select where the minimum Centos 7 installation will be saved. Click "Installation Destination“.
Make sure the disk to which to install is checked as shown below, and click Done.
The next installation process will run. While waiting for the installation process, create a password for root login. Click on "Root Password". Optionally, you can create a normal user login by clicking on "User Creation“.
Enter the desired root password, and then click "Done“.
If the Centos 7 Minimal installation process is complete, a notification will appear as follows. Click the button "Reboot"To restart the VM.
After the reboot process is complete, a root login screen will appear like this. This indicates that the server with a minimum Centos 7 OS is ready to use.
Please login to root with the password that you previously created. And enter the following command to check the IP address obtained from the DHCP server.
a display will appear as follows:
Now you can log in to SSH via computer with the command
ssh firstname.lastname@example.org (according to the IP address obtained by the web server).
Thus the installation tutorial for Centos 7 Minimal, hopefully this is useful.
